The Thanksgiving holiday is one of the greatest holiday's I think. It comes at the perfect time every year, rejuvenates us for finals, and always gets me so antsy and excited for the Christmas break that I know is only a couple weeks away now. But, probably the greatest aspect of the holiday is being able to step out of all the stresses of everyday life and really think about and recognize all of our many blesses. This year especially I feel like we have so much to be thankful for. Here are just some of the many things I have been able to think about this weekend.
Family
We are so incredibly blessed to have the love and support of two amazing families. We have 300+ years of marriage with all 4 grandparents and both sets of parents still happily married to learn from. We have the friendship and love of great siblings. The great joy of 2 nieces and a brand new little nephew. And this year we have the amazing love and excitement of a 3 month old marriage. Thank you family for being in our life.
Friends
We both have had amazing friends through out the years who have supported, cheered, and loved us both. Thank you for being in our life.
Health
Although you might often hear us complaining about our various aches and pains we are both very thankful for the bodies we have been given. We have enjoyed and loved our many years of sports and plan on many years ahead of aches and pains.
School
BYU offers us an amazing education with great professors that really care about us. We both also have the great opportunity to be in majors that allow us to get professional experience and truly learn every day outside of school.
The beauty around us
I have always loved the beautiful landscapes of green Oregon and even if I haven't always expressed much appreciation for living in Utah, I have and do live in a beautiful place. Utah's mountains are amazing as they sit right next to campus and when lightly powdered with snow they look majestic.
The Gospel
We both have been blessed to be raised in the church with parents who have such strong testimonies and have taught us where all of these amazing blessings come from.
Those are just a few things that we are thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday.
We are also very thankful that we were able to spend the holiday break in Layton with the Vance's and Collett's. We started our festivities with our first house guest on Sunday night,Ryan came and spent Sunday to Wednesday with us! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner cooked by Stacy and her mom, and we are both very grateful for their work and we ended the night by going to see Harry Potter! I haven't always been a fan of the movies but I did love this one. Friday we ventured out on Black friday but were sadly disappointed and ended our shopping trip online at home. We then went to Salt Lake to the Collett's to cheer on our Ducks (Go Ducks!) and ended our night at Temple Square to see the lights, which is always a wonderful experience even if it is freezing cold.
And even if the Collett's had to head home a day early we loved the time we got to spend with them and are happy they will make it home safely. All in all we had a wonderful thanksgiving break, have a lot to be thankful for, enjoyed the break from school, and are so excited for Christmas break.
