We started our 4th off with a church picnic in Fort Tryon park. Luckily, there was enough shade for everyone to sit under. We enjoyed some frisbee and food.
Next on the agenda? NYC fireworks! This firework show is seriously amazing. I highly recommend you see these fireworks in person. If nothing else, tune in next year to watch them on tv. Even on tv it'll blow your mind. This year we went down with some friends to wait on the West Side highway. It was hot, crowded, and just so NY. Here are some pictures of the show.

Last one, I promise.
We decide that since Wes had an awesome 5 day weekend we would continue the celebrations. On the 5th we decided to explore more of the city. Our destination? The South Street Seaport! It was so cute! It reminded me of the Saturdays market in Portland. We even stopped to have delicious fish n' chips!

We continued our celebration through Saturday. We went to the beach!! I don't know what it is about the beach but I feel like a little kid anytime I have the opportunity to go! I've been looking forward to the beach for weeks now and I finally got to go. We were very prepared with sunscreen, food, a big jug of water, and even a beach umbrella to prevent frying again. Little did we know that our preparations were all in vane. Apparently there is no preventing the sun from burning our skin... Either way, I had so much fun!
